Thousands of volunteer hours help to make Springer the fantastic community that it is. Whether you have just an hour here and there or you are interested in playing a bigger role, there are numerous opportunities for you to get involved.
There are volunteer opportunities all year round! If you are interested in helping with a particular activity, please contact the committee chair or the VP of Volunteers. In addition, there are several annual recruiting events:
- Back to School Coffee and Volunteer Fair: This event happens right after school begins on the first day of school. Committee chairpersons set up tables in the quad to answer questions about their committees and positions and to take sign ups from people who are interested in helping.
- Back to School Night: This event is usually scheduled within the first two or three weeks of school. Parents and guardians are invited to visit their children’s classrooms to meet with the teachers and learn about what the year has in store for the students. At this important event, there are also sign ups for volunteer opportunities for the class, in areas such as the computer lab, library, writer’s workshop, and many more. Generally the head room parents coordinate classroom volunteers for their classrooms.
- PTA Officer Nominations: In January, the PTA Parliamentarian assembles a nominating committee for the next year’s Executive Board. The nominating committee solicits nominations for board positions from the Springer Community. The slate of officers is presented to the association in March and voted on in April. If you are interested in being on the nominating committee, contact the Parliamentarian, and if you are interested in a board position, please submit a nomination form for yourself.
- Spring Recruiting: During the spring, the PTA Executive Board Elect begins recruiting for committee chairpersons and other key positions. If you are interested in such a position, contact the current chairperson or an incoming board member.
