Principal’s Message |
Dear Springer Families, Springer has an emergency plan that includes a drill to address an earthquake situation. The school staff goes through training to ensure that we are prepared for such an event. Next Thursday (18th) we will participate with the rest of LASD in the statewide Great California ShakeOut drill. During this time children will be instructed to duck and cover and then evacuate the classroom to the field. We have various staff teams with responsibilities such as student supervision, check-out, search and rescue, as well as first aid. These tasks are performed while the students are on the field. We practice a simulation to ensure we are ready in case a real disaster was to occur. Please know that we need to account for each child/adult on campus in an emergency situation. If the school is at a place where students can be released to an adult, the person will be directed to a student release area upon arriving at school. Please note the person picking up a child needs to be a parent or a person listed on the student release list that you completed at the beginning of the school year. It is important that you keep this list up to date if there are any changes throughout the year. It is also important to let the office know of any email address changes. Please come into the office to make these changes. In order for a child to be released to the parent, or a person listed on the student release form, picture identification is required. Rest assured that the safety of your child is our priority, and we are prepared to provide the very best care if an emergency was to occur. Thank you for entrusting your child to our care each day. Warmly, Please note this drill will occur at 10:30 am on the 18th. During this drill, you will not be able to enter the school site to volunteer or check-out your child. It usually takes somewhere between 30-45 minutes for us to complete the drill. |
