Principal’s Message

Dear Springer Families,

Hard to believe it is almost the end of October! Remember our Halloween parade is next Wednesday, at 1:15. Please join us! A reminder that ALL students will be released at 2:40 that day. Students need to bring their costumes to school and change into them after lunch. Please have them bring a costume they can change into themselves. As always, please do not have them bring anything that is a weapon, has blood, or depicts violence. By the way, when you sort out your candy Halloween night, I like peanut M&Ms:)

The staff has been reviewing our academic data, and I will share that with you at our next Principal's coffee. We have also made goals this year in the area of parent communication in regards to sharing what is and what does growth mindset and the workshop model look like for your child(ren). We have a schoolwide commitment to share this information and how you can support your child(ren) at home in the classroom newsletters/updates that are sent to you. Also, we have made a commitment to show you what this process looks like using graphics/pictures  through the use of technology. We value you as our partners in providing only the best education for every child.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Robin Robinson

The Walk-A-Thon Committee Thanks You!

Thank you to all our walkers, volunteers and sponsors for making this year's Walk-a-thon a success!

A huge thank you to all of you that used PledgeStar to collect your pledges this year.  That really helped save us time!  Donors who made a pledge on PledgeStar have been sent an email with payment instructions.  And all donors that made a pledge in PledgeStar will automatically receive a tax donation receipt once the payment is received.

It’s not too late to make a donation if you did not make a pledge in PledgeStar!  Donations may be sent to us via PayPal.  Go towww.paypal.me/springerpta, and put Walkathon in the "Add a Note” section.   Alternatively, you can mail a check (made out to the Springer PTA, with Walkathon in the memo line) to the school (ATTN: Walkathon) or drop it in the Walkathon cubby in the office.

If you did not use PledgeStar, the PTA's Financial Secretary will send a tax receipt for donations over $250.  For donations under $250, the canceled check may be used as a donation receipt.

Help Wanted!

PTA needs committee leads for:

  • Walk A Thon (to help out this year but be the lead for next year)
  • Auction (to ramp up this year and lead next year)
  • Emergency Prep (start now, but the current volunteer parent will train for the transition)
  • Field Day Chair

Not up for being the go-to person, no worries. These programs need additional help:

  • Recycling

Please email: president@springerpta.net if you are interested in any of the positions. Rachel can give you a high-level overview of what the job entails and then introduce you to the appropriate team.  Watch this space as we identify other areas that have a need.

Walden West--Mature Volunteers Needed

Walden West Volunteers Needed!

What: Volunteer Cabin Leaders

When: May 13 - 17, 2019

Who: High School/College Students

How: send students towww.waldenwest.org/volunteer to apply

Why: Support the 6th grade students at Springer Elementary School

This is the first year Walden West is asking us to provide our own volunteer cabin leaders for our 6th graders, the week of May 13, 2019.

Walden West supports high school student’s academic engagement, builds their leadership skills and adds to their portfolios for future career/college. Students earn up to 100 hours of service learning serving as cabin leaders and enrich their current science knowledge in our field classes. Training and support is provided throughout the week.

LAEF

We’ve raised $2 million, but still need another $1.5 million to fully fund this school year. If you’ve made a pledge during our Phonathon, or have yet to donate, visit www.laefonline.org/donate, or text your donation to LAEF at 50155. The suggested amount is $1,200 per student or $120/month. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.

Did you know that the Art Docent program has recently developed new engaging projects that integrate more fully with classroom learning and STEM activities?  Your contributions to LAEF help fund excellent art lessons for every grade level.
