Principal’s Message

Dear Springer Families,

It was so nice to see so many of you here for our parade this week. A fun time was had by all, and the teachers even survived the day after Halloween:) It does not seem possible, but the first trimester ends today. Report cards will be sent home electronically, on November 14th, to the email addresses inputted into our database.

I would like to ask that good driving practices are used on Rose Ave., especially before school. We are seeing, near the kindergarten area, cars making illegal u turns, going down the wrong side of the road, and dropping off children at the school’s access road. All of these practices put our children in very unsafe situations. Let’s make safety for our children our first priority. They are priceless!

LASD has several DELAC(District English Learner Advisory Council) meetings throughout the year. This year’s meetings will be held on Thursdays, in the District’s iLearn Studio, from 9:00 am -10:30 am. These meetings will occur on the following dates:

November 15, 2018
February 7, 2019
April 11, 2019
May 9, 2019

We value your perspective and support.

Well, I am off to count all of the peanut M&Ms the children brought my way, and I am sure I will enjoy eating them as well! Thank you kids!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Robin Robinson

Tis Food Drive Season!

 .          Food Drive

Springer’s annual food drive will begin on Monday, November 5, and end on Friday, November 16.  Please donate nutritious food items, or consider a cash donation.  Student ambassadors will be collecting items before school.  There will also be a food bin in the Springer office.

Also, our student ambassadors will be creating things for the holiday season, magnets, ornaments, etc., profits going toward our fundraising efforts.  We will be using materials from home, such as corks, old/broken jewelry, buttons, etc.  If you have any items that you would like to donate, please send them to Room 11, Ms. Williams.  We will make something cute or beautiful out of something old!

Tax Donation Receipts

Tax donation receipts were sent out (via email) for all Back-To-School Form orders that included a tax deductible donation.  Contact bts@springerpta.netwith any questions regarding your BTS order or donation amount.

If you didn’t get a chance to fill out the online BTS Form, paper forms are available in the PTA Membership cubby in the Springer office.

Thank you for your support of the Springer PTA!

The Walk-A-Thon Committee Thanks You!

Thank you to all our walkers, volunteers and sponsors for making this year's Walk-a-thon a success!

A huge thank you to all of you that used PledgeStar to collect your pledges this year.  That really helped save us time!  Donors who made a pledge on PledgeStar have been sent an email with payment instructions.  And all donors that made a pledge in PledgeStar will automatically receive a tax donation receipt once the payment is received.

It’s not too late to make a donation if you did not make a pledge in PledgeStar!  Donations may be sent to us via PayPal.  Go towww.paypal.me/springerpta, and put Walkathon in the "Add a Note” section.   Alternatively, you can mail a check (made out to the Springer PTA, with Walkathon in the memo line) to the school (ATTN: Walkathon) or drop it in the Walkathon cubby in the office.

If you did not use PledgeStar, the PTA's Financial Secretary will send a tax receipt for donations over $250.  For donations under $250, the canceled check may be used as a donation receipt.

Help Wanted!

Volunteers Needed

PTA needs committee leads for:

  • Walk A Thon (to help out this year but be the lead for next year)
  • Auction (to ramp up this year and lead next year)
  • Emergency Prep (start now, but the current volunteer parent will train for the transition)
  • Field Day Chair

Not up for being the go-to person, no worries. These programs need additional help:

  • Recycling

Please email: president@springerpta.net if you are interested in any of the positions. Rachel can give you a high-level overview of what the job entails and then introduce you to the appropriate team.  Watch this space as we identify other areas that have a need.

LAEF

 LAEF

A 5th grader at Springer recently shared what she enjoys about LAEF funded programs:

Art - I love drawing. It's one of my favorite subjects.

STEM - I like STEM because it's "hands on."

Wellness - I like getting out there with my friends and taking a mental break.

Literacy - I really like creative writing because I can take the story on any turns I want.

We’ve raised $2 million, but still need another $1.5 million to fully fund teachers and staff this school year. If you’ve made a pledge during our Phonathon, or have yet to donate, visit www.laefonline.org/donate, or text your donation to LAEF at 50155. The suggested amount is $1,200 per student or $120/month. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.
