Principal’s Message |
Dear Springer Families,
I want to thank the current Springer families and prospective families that joined our Springer Informational Night last week. Ms. Lammay shared, as well as Ms Capriles about what it means to teach your wonderful children. Sarah Daniels and her daughter, Katie, shared their experiences as a student and parent of Springer. Linda Ripley-Smith also spoke and answered questions about the logistics of registering their child for Springer. Thank you to each of them! Everyone did a fabulous job representing our school and describing the warmth, care, and personalization we give each child. You are also our best ambassadors as families move into our area. They do have a choice, and we would love if you would share your experiences of being part of a neighborhood school with them. We have so many opportunities for our children both academically and through enrichment that affords a balanced, unique experience for them. Thank you for supporting our school. You are indeed the heart of Springer!
Part of our enrichment is our Springer Singers. We had the joy of listening to them this week. They will be performing in the MPR tonight at 7:00 p.m. You won’t want to miss them. Thank you to Heidi Rockett and Mary Hamilton for their dedication each week to this program. Also, next week we will have our Winter Concert next Tuesday (18th) at 1:00 p.m. for parents to enjoy our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students perform. Such a nice time of the year for our children to shine!
And, you will want to join the PTA’s cookies and cocoa celebration next Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in the MPR to mingle and enjoy each other’s company.
Wishing each of you a wonderful weekend, as I find myself baking up a storm:)

A Note From The LASD Nurse |
Sometimes it is difficult, especially early in the morning, to know whether or not to send your child to school. The following guidelines are indications that you should keep him/her home. In this way, you are helping to control the spread of colds, flu, and other contagious illnesses.
Keep your child at home when he/she has any of the following symptoms:
You need to keep your child home until he/she has been symptom free without medication for 24 hours.
Also, NOTIFY THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY if your child is exposed to or contracts chicken pox, mumps or measles or whooping cough (pertussis). These conditions can be life threatening to students who are undergoing therapies that suppress their immune systems.
The following information is only a guide to common childhood health concerns. Call our District Nurses or personal health care provider for more information. Always bring a copy of a physician’s note to school and/or notify the school if your child will have an extended absence due to a health condition for 10 days or longer. |
