Principal’s Letter |
Please allow me to express my utmost appreciation to the Walkathon committee for all the work you did to make ‘Oceans in Motion’ a rousing success. I am always amazed and inspired by the hours of work put into our biggest student fundraiser. I have heard nothing but praise from students, teachers, and parents about Saturday's event. Margot Harrigan, School Board member, even sent me an email saying how impressed she was with our Walkathon. And to Katie Cowley and Karey Gutierrez, our Walkathon Chairs, you are a dynamite team. Your leadership through this was impressive—and you are both so fun to work with. Thank you! |
News and Announcements |
LAEF: Two reasons to donate today! #1: Save our dedicated parent volunteers a call during our annual phonathon and make your tax deductible donation before October 21. #2: Donations from new LASD families and increases in donations from last year's donors are matched $1 for $1 if received before November 1 so please donate today! We promised to raise a total of $2.35 million this year to pay for our great teachers and staff. Your donation pays for this year's programs for every child K-8! Our suggested donation is $1000 (or 10 installment payments of $100) but please give generously at a level that is comfortable for your family. Show us that you are IN! Go online today at www.laefonline.org. |
PTA meeting, Wednesday, November 2, at 7:00 pm. We will move quickly through PTA business, including a vote to approve the new Springer PTA Bylaws (see a summary of the changes), and then hear from a panel of guest speakers who will describe the fine arts programs at Springer. Please join us and learn about the new Starting Arts Music and Dance instruction for K-3rd, the vocal and instrumental instruction for 4th-6th, the art docent programs in K-6th, and the CSMA Arts in Action program for 1st-6th graders. |
It really was a Whale of a Walkathon! |
Springer Directory: You might remember that this year the district used a new online system (InfoSnap) to update student data, including contact information for school directories, so you only needed to enter your information once. As a result, there are some new processes in place to ensure the security and privacy of the information being included in the directory. Please stop by the office before the end of the day on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 26th and review the directory entry for your family. We believe that it will be worth the extra time and effort this year for a quicker and easier process in the future. Thanks for your patience! |
Got Yearbooks? Great news: We have a yearbook committee! Feng Zhou and Michelle Koblas have stepped forward to manage this project. And new this year, our 6th grade students will be an integral part of the team, taking photographs, collecting and selecting pictures, and designing page layouts! Be on the lookout for ordering information soon. |
Volunteering Thanks to the many of you who have completed our Volunteer Interest and Availability form, but we are still looking for much higher participation! Help us better understand the availability and constraints of our volunteer population by completing this online form. |

WoW: Let’s get our school mentioned on Ellen!! This is our big week! We want to get Boltage (Springer WoW) recognized by the producers of the Ellen show. Our hope is to either get on her show or have her visit one of the schools running the Boltage (Springer WoW) program. The more letters and pictures they have landing in their 'laps' this week, the better chance we will have. You can either email her show on Friday, October 21st or write her a letter – or BOTH! Please put "Boltage" in the subject line when you e-mail her. Tell them that it’s Springer and the name of the program is WoW (that way our name may get used as well). Ask parents, teachers, friends and family to e-mail her as well on Friday. You can mail packages/letters to: The Ellen DeGeneres Show PO Box 7788Burbank, CA 91522ATTN: Fan Mail Or e-mail her at: Read more: http://ellen.warnerbros.com Thanks for supporting WoW @ Springer!!! |
