Los Altos Individualized Education PTA Los Altos IEPTA was introduced in the 2011-2012 school year. Formerly known as LASEPTA, it was renamed to more accurately reflect the diverse set of special educational concerns of its member community. The original LASEPTA was formed on June 5, 2007, as the first district-wide special education PTA in the Los Altos School District. Los Altos IEPTA works to support the special education needs of children in the Los Altos (Calif.) School District. We strive to foster communication, share information, and help our children become active and successful participants in our community. Calling Young Robot Builders The annual Los Altos Robotics FIRST LEGO League program starts August 28th, 2012 with the worldwide announcement of the Senior Solutions challenge. FLL introduces students in grades 4 to age 14 to the wonders of engineering, science, math, and technology in a fun and engaging way. FLL pairs an academic challenge with a sports-like playing field where children create autonomous robots, and research & create solutions to a real-life problem. Each fall, teams of 4-10 players have 8-10 weeks to design, construct, program, and test their robots. They compete in fun and exciting tournaments, running robots in time trials and demonstrating technology creativity. Los Altos Robotics (LAR) hosts the Los Altos FLL Competition. Last year, 24 Los Altos area teams with over 140 local students participated. This year, LAR will have a scrimmage on 21st of October and a tournament on November 18th.
