Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

With the rain it has been a struggle getting my son up so I have had to remind him it is a school day and that school starts at 8:15am.  Sometimes we just ask Alexa to play a song that motivates him to get off the bed.  He slides out of bed and across the floor and says “Let’s Rock and Roll”.   Music is the key-- and the smell of breakfast!

So let’s get our Springer Stingers out of bed and into the classrooms by 8:30am ready to Rock and Roll!

The sunshine has returned and everything is sprouting around us.  As I watch the kids in the classroom and playground I see that they too are sprouting.   Students are working in small groups during reading with books both selected by their teachers and themselves.   They are dialoguing and responding both verbally and in writing about the fantasy and realistic fiction books they are reading.  Ask your children what they are reading in class and learn about the adventures and stories they are uncovering. Have them share the book.

What else has been happening at Springer?

Springer Stinger Mentors

The Springer Stingers mentor program began this week under the leadership of Ms. Rubinstein, Mrs. Robb, and Ms. Williams.  The purpose of the Mentor program is to promote leadership, confidence, positive role models and leaders.  After a  day of training the group of 54, fifth and sixth graders have made their positive presence on the kinder and 1-6th grade playground.  Our mentors are there to help resolve problems, play games with others, introduce games,  and to be a positive role model to the students.   Student will be found wearing the Springer Stinger Shirts.

from 6-8pm.

Where:  Springer Multi

When:  Friday, February 10th, 6-8pm

How much does it cost?  Free admission! Bring small bills for the raffle and

concessions

What should I bring? Blankets, pillows, stuffed animals. No lawn chairs, please!

Concessions

We will be showing A Bug’s Life to raise awareness of how mighty a small act of courage can be.  The Springer Student Ambassadors will be selling concessions (popcorn, fruit snacks, candy, drinks) to help raise awareness and funds for our Save Our Stingers- Bee the Change! Fundraiser.  They will also be raising money through a raffle that will take place during intermission.  Please bring money (small bills, please!) to participate in the raffle and to buy concessions.  We look forward to seeing you there!

Springer Ambassadors Fundraising Cause

This February, the Springer Student Ambassadors and the Springer community
will be raising money and awareness to help the Rusty Patch Bumble Bees that have recently been placed on the endangered species list- the first bee species to be identified as endangered in the continental US. As the Springer Stingers, we find it crucial
to raise awareness and play a part in conserving such important keystone species. The population is declining due to habitat loss, intensive farming, disease, and pesticides. Without bees, our entire food web is disrupted. In order to raise money, we will
be selling bee themed items throughout the month of February (starting February 6th) in the morning at the Student Store (small bills, please!) We will also be collecting any extra change you have to donate to the cause. All of our profits will go to help raise awareness and conserve the Rusty Patch Bumble Bee. The SSA will be sharing facts about bees throughout the month, explaining their importance and ways you can help at home. Please join us at the PTA movie night on February 10th from 6-8pm where we will
continue raising money and awareness for the bees. Thanks for your support! Save Our Stingers-Bee the Change!
