Dear Parents,
With the rain it has been a struggle getting my son up so I have had to remind him it is a school day and that school starts at 8:15am. Sometimes we just ask Alexa to play a song that motivates him to get off the bed. He slides out of bed and across the floor and says “Let’s Rock and Roll”. Music is the key-- and the smell of breakfast!
So let’s get our Springer Stingers out of bed and into the classrooms by 8:30am ready to Rock and Roll! The sunshine has returned and everything is sprouting around us. As I watch the kids in the classroom and playground I see that they too are sprouting. Students are working in small groups during reading with books both selected by their teachers and themselves. They are dialoguing and responding both verbally and in writing about the fantasy and realistic fiction books they are reading. Ask your children what they are reading in class and learn about the adventures and stories they are uncovering. Have them share the book. 
What else has been happening at Springer? Springer Stinger Mentors The Springer Stingers mentor program began this week under the leadership of Ms. Rubinstein, Mrs. Robb, and Ms. Williams. The purpose of the Mentor program is to promote leadership, confidence, positive role models and leaders. After a day of training the group of 54, fifth and sixth graders have made their positive presence on the kinder and 1-6th grade playground. Our mentors are there to help resolve problems, play games with others, introduce games, and to be a positive role model to the students. Student will be found wearing the Springer Stinger Shirts.

Buzz… Did you know that Mrs. Boskie enjoys watching movies on Friday with her son, Cody. It is movie night on Friday’s in our house. Last week we watched Pinocchio. |

Family Movie Night- A Bug’s Life |

Join us for a Family Movie Night! The PTA will be hosting a family movie night on Friday, February 10th from 6-8pm. Who: You and your family! (not a drop off event) Where: Springer Multi When: Friday, February 10th, 6-8pm How much does it cost? Free admission! Bring small bills for the raffle and concessions What should I bring? Blankets, pillows, stuffed animals. No lawn chairs, please! Concessions We will be showing A Bug’s Life to raise awareness of how mighty a small act of courage can be. The Springer Student Ambassadors will be selling concessions (popcorn, fruit snacks, candy, drinks) to help raise awareness and funds for our Save Our Stingers- Bee the Change! Fundraiser. They will also be raising money through a raffle that will take place during intermission. Please bring money (small bills, please!) to participate in the raffle and to buy concessions. We look forward to seeing you there! |

Nomination Committee -- Call for Volunteers |
|
PTA is looking for 2-3 people to serve on the nomination committee. This is a very quick and easy way to get involved, as it's minimal time commitment. The job of the committee is to help identify and secure folks to serve on the PTA board. Committee members will be given names from current PTA board. Students will start building the yearbook for this school year. Please help fill up the pages with pictures! We need pictures from: -classroom events -Halloween -First Day of School -WAT -Around campus There are SEVERAL ways to submit pictures:Amazon Smile A) You can email pictures to: ybspringer@gmail.com (in subject line, please list what the pictures are from/are. i.e. --Walk A Thon, First day of school, Room 5,) B) Use the pictavo app. Download the app via the app store use the same login from pictavo.com or create one. LASD & LAEF are excited to kick off the first ever STEM Days at both Egan and Blach schools this spring. STEM pervades every part of life. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. Exposing our students to different aspects of careers in the STEM fields could inspire and spark a passion in learning.

The Springer auction party is our largest and most awesome adult-only fundraiser and community building event of the year! All proceeds from the auction go directly to Springer Elementary school.
